The BJP's CR Kesavan launched a scathing critique against the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal administration, charging them with disrespecting President Droupadi Murmu and flouting essential democratic protocols. Kesavan described the TMC's governance as 'anarchic jungle-raj' and challenged the opposition parties' silence on the matter, demanding an apology from the TMC leadership.
Kesavan condemned the actions of the TMC, stating they actively insulted not only the President but also compromised the esteem of high constitutional offices. He called for apologies to the President, the tribal community, and the nation, labeling the conduct as unacceptable and indefensible.
In response, CPI-M's Brinda Karat highlighted the constitutional significance of the Presidency and insisted that if Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee couldn't personally welcome the President, then a senior government representative should have. The controversy sparked as President Murmu noted the absence of West Bengal's leadership during her visit to Darjeeling.
