In a firm statement on global diplomacy, China has rejected the notion of G2 co-governance with the United States, a concept previously floated by US President Donald Trump. China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for worldwide cooperation, asserting that international affairs require the participation of over 190 nations rather than dominance by major powers.
Wang highlighted the historical dangers of great-power rivalries, underscoring that China refuses to follow a path of hegemony. He called for a focus on diversity and multipolarity, elements he believes are essential in shaping the future of the global landscape. China's approach emphasizes coexistence and collaboration rather than confrontation.
With US-China relations in focus, Wang praised the strategic dialogue between Trump and Xi Jinping, noting its stabilizing effect. He encouraged ongoing efforts to mitigate risks and eradicate disruptions in a 'big year' for bilateral ties. Additionally, Wang reaffirmed China's strong, independent partnership with Russia, grounded in equality and mutual benefit, and devoid of alliance or confrontation.
