As Kerala braces for the April 9 Assembly polls, Kottayam is witnessing a unique father-son duo campaigning for votes. Veteran politician P C George and his son Shone George are running as NDA candidates in Christian-majority Poonjar and Pala constituencies.

P C George, a national council member of the BJP, has an extensive political career spanning different Kerala Congress factions and is currently serving in his own Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) party. He shares the campaign spotlight with his son, Shone George, a state vice president of the party, both running due to insistent BJP leadership.

In the Pala constituency, Shone George faces formidable LDF leader Jose K Mani and current UDF MLA Mani C Kappan. Despite comments on a triangular fight, Shone remains confident that the BJP-NDA can penetrate the demographic, citing substantial progress in organizational strength and influence.
