The European Union is recalibrating its diplomatic strategies by acknowledging the unpredictability of the United States, one year after President Donald Trump's second tenure began, shared EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in a conversation with Reuters on Tuesday.
Despite the longstanding alliance, Kallas emphasized the perplexing nature of recent U.S. policies, indicating a need for the EU to adapt. "Of course, we are allies with America, but we don't really understand their moves recently," she mentioned.
This adaptation involves accepting unpredictability as a constant aspect of transatlantic relations. "We are now more calm because we are expecting the unpredictable things to happen all the time," Kallas concluded. Her remarks highlight a strategic shift towards resilience and caution in the EU's approach.
