Panneerselvam accused Udhayakumar of pressuring him to contest the elections against his will. He even claimed that multiple candidates with similar names were appointed, diluting his chances.

Highlighting differences between legendary leaders and current AIADMK figures, Panneerselvam criticized the shift from publically chosen leaders to those appointed by the organization, leading to internal tensions within the party.
