In a significant political development, senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, marking a crucial shift in the political landscape of Assam.
The announcement was made in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other prominent leaders, underscoring the BJP's growing influence in the region. Bordoloi was welcomed into the party by state president Dilip Saikia, following the approval from BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
The transition comes a day after Bordoloi resigned from the Congress, where he served as chairman of the manifesto committee for the Assembly polls. This aligns with a recent trend, as former Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah also transitioned to the BJP.
