In the political arena of West Bengal, tension is mounting as BJP leader Dilip Ghosh issued a sharp critique of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ghosh declared that Banerjee lacks the authority to question or advise, underscoring the country's confidence in the Election Commission and forecasting a government turnover following the upcoming state polls.
The remarks were in response to a letter from Mamata Banerjee addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In it, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of overstepping ethical boundaries and ignoring fundamental democratic processes. She expressed frustration with the Commission's alleged bias since the onset of the "Special Intensive Revision" period, citing neglect of public welfare in favor of political maneuvering.
Banerjee further complained about significant administrative disruptions in her state, characterizing the Election Commission's relocation of senior officials as unwarranted and detrimental. However, as the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, slated for two phases on April 23 and April 29, 2026, the focus remains on ensuring fair and just electoral proceedings amid heightened political tensions.
