Rohit Pawar, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Friday demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged black magic practices carried out near the homes of the late Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar last year.

Pawar, citing statements by a party colleague, emphasized the deeply troubling nature of these allegations, particularly given Maharashtra's progressive stance against superstition. He insisted on identifying those responsible for commissioning the acts and exploring potential political motives behind them.

The issue gained further urgency following revelations by MLA Amol Mitkari, who linked the rituals to a 'Shivlika Ashram' led by Ashokkumar Kharat, arresting further scrutiny as Kharat was recently detained for separate criminal charges, intensifying the demand for a comprehensive probe.
