Lurinjyoti Gogoi, the president of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), filed his nomination for the Khowang constituency in Dibrugarh district on Friday, signaling a renewed bid despite previous electoral setbacks.

Gogoi, who unsuccessfully contested the 2021 assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, remains hopeful as the AJP joins a six-party alliance including Congress, Raijor Dal, and CPI(M) for the upcoming April 9 assembly elections.

Leading a procession in Dibrugarh, Gogoi emphasized unity among opposition parties and voiced confidence in challenging the BJP. He expressed his desire to represent the people's voice, seeking their support. Polling will occur on April 9, with results declared on May 4.
