Nishikant Dubey, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, issued an unconditional apology for his controversial remarks implicating Biju Patnaik, former Chief Minister of Odisha, in a supposed link between Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the CIA during the 1960s Sino-Indian conflict.
Dubey faced criticism from both BJP members and opposition over his comments. He clarified that his statements about Nehru were misinterpreted regarding Biju Patnaik, whom he described as a towering and distinguished leader. Dubey emphasized that the views he shared were strictly personal.
In an attempt to assuage any hurt sentiments, Dubey expressed sincere regret for any potential offence caused. Furthermore, he took the occasion to extend his best wishes to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa, celebrating the state's rich heritage.
