Amid a politically charged atmosphere in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Saturday that the time has come to replace Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on May 4, the day votes will be counted. Speaking at a public rally in Shyampur, Howrah district, Shah emphasized a BJP-led government would ensure women's safety and financial empowerment.
Shah criticized the current state of women's safety under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime, citing incidents in Sandeshkhali and medical colleges as evidence. He accused Mamata Banerjee of intimidating women instead of confronting lawbreakers. Shah assured that the election results would bring a transformative change for women, ending Mamata Banerjee's tenure and beginning a new era of empowerment.
Simultaneously, Mamata Banerjee announced legal action against Shah for his 'violent remarks.' Addressing a gathering in Hoogly, she condemned Shah's threatening language towards TMC workers and argued that his aggressive methods would not succeed in Bengal. Banerjee's declaration follows the completion of the first phase of polling, which saw a significant turnout. The second phase is set for April 29, with vote counting slated for May 4.
