Opposition leaders are demanding justice in the case of a teenage girl allegedly raped and murdered in Ghazipur, despite police claims of arrests made. Rahul Gandhi asserted that the family was threatened to deter them from filing an FIR, with opposition proposing a high-level probe into the case.
The situation escalated when a Samajwadi Party delegation led by Akhilesh Yadav was attacked while visiting the victim's family. Police have arrested 10 people linked to this attack, amid political figures condemning the administrative response as apathetic and calling for urgent action.
Authorities, led by ADG Piyush Mordia, affirm ongoing investigations and caution against political agitation. Initial post-mortem reports suggest drowning, pointing towards a possible suicide linked to the victim's past relationship with the accused, but inquiries continue to establish the full narrative.
