Social Media Threats Spur Investigation into Kerala Security Incident

Authorities have initiated a probe into social media threats against a Kerala Chief Minister's security team member amid claims of impending retribution once the UDF gains power. The case emerged from complaints about alleged posts by Congress-linked accounts. The investigation is focusing on identified individuals.

Authorities in Kerala have launched an investigation into threats allegedly made on social media against a member of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's security team. The posts hint at retribution when the United Democratic Front (UDF) takes power, officials disclosed on Sunday.

The Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Police registered the case following a complaint by Sandeep Sasidharan, a security staff member of the Chief Minister. His complaint reportedly stems from allegations that Congress-affiliated individuals would seek vengeance against him and another officer, Anil Kumar, for purportedly assaulting Youth Congress-KSU activists during a protest in Alappuzha in 2023.

Police have registered cases against Facebook accounts for threats and obscene language. The investigation, conducted under the Indian penal code, aims to summon and question the identified account holders soon.
