The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) issued a public caution advisory after recording high ultraviolet (UV) index levels. Various districts, including Kottarakkara and Konni, reported orange alerts, while yellow alerts were recorded in others like Ernakulam and Wayanad.
Prolonged UV exposure can lead to sunburn and health problems, prompting cautionary advice from KSDMA. People, especially those with outdoor occupations or health vulnerabilities, are urged to avoid sun exposure between 10 am and 3 pm, and to use protective measures like hats and sunglasses.
The advisory also highlighted that tropical and high-altitude regions, along with areas near water bodies, face increased UV risks. KSDMA provides real-time UV data through their monitoring stations to assist the public in staying informed and taking necessary precautions.
