Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified his critique of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal as assembly elections draw near. Speaking at rallies in North 24 Parganas and Hooghly, Modi accused the TMC of lawlessness and insufficient protection for women, promising significant reforms if the BJP comes to power.
Modi highlighted the BJP's commitment to women's safety by fielding candidates like Rekha Patra and Ratna Debnath. He alleged that the TMC's dependence on criminal elements has led the judiciary to intervene, labeling the current government as 'nirmam sarkar' (cruel government).
In Thakurnagar, Modi promised citizenship for Matua community members under the Citizenship Amendment Act, countering TMC narratives. He criticized TMC's 'syndicate raj' and called for increased voter participation, warning of consequences for infiltrators. Modi also pledged industrial revival in Hooghly and nationwide healthcare implementation for the state under BJP governance.
