In a significant reshuffle at the Elysee Palace, French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed a new chief of staff. The move comes as Emmanuel Moulin, the outgoing chief, is speculated to take a senior role at the Bank of France.
Reuters sources have suggested that Moulin is a likely candidate to replace current central bank head Francois Villeroy de Galhau, who will step down in June. This development allows Macron to appoint a successor ahead of potential far-right gains in the 2027 presidential elections.
Moulin's exit from the presidency, officially announced for May 4, makes way for Pierre-André Imbert. With his background as the former head of the French treasury, Moulin brings significant experience to a possible future role at the central bank.
