In an audacious pre-election gambit, UDF candidate P V Anvar has vowed to shave his head and don earrings should he face defeat in the Beypore Assembly elections. His challenge has been extended to his opponent, State Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas, to match his dare if the tables turn on May 4.

Speaking to reporters, Anvar accused Riyas of excessive confidence, citing Riyas's claim of securing a record-breaking victory margin of over 82,000 votes. Anvar dismissed this prospect and urged Riyas to back his words with action by accepting the challenge.

Anvar, who recently departed from his allegiance with the Trinamool Congress and moved towards forming a new political party allied with the Congress, faces Riyas in a constituency traditionally dominated by the LDF. With high stakes in this contest, both candidates vie for a decisive mandate.
