Former MLA P V Anvar has publicly demanded an investigation by a potential UDF government into the alleged corruption under the current LDF administration. Anvar, who initially aligned with the LDF, resigned due to conflicts with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and later contested elections as a UDF-backed Independent from Beypore.
Amid recent reports, Anvar alleged misconduct by Sujith Das, former Malappuram District Police Chief, in handling criminal cases and associations with gold smuggling networks. He criticized the internal probe clearance given to Das and expressed intentions to take legal action, highlighting his exclusion from the investigation process.
Anvar charged Das with contributing to illegal activities and political manipulation in Malappuram, famously a minority-dominated district. He also accused the LDF government of diverting public funds in the billions through corruption. Anvar assured that the UDF would investigate these allegations post-election, amidst claims of overwhelming public sentiment against the Vijayan-led administration.
