The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader had a distinguished career marked by significant influence in Jalna district, especially within the Partur assembly constituency.

Jethliya, who was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council in 2004, showcased his political mettle by defeating BJP leader Babanrao Lonikar as an independent candidate in the 2009 assembly elections. Despite losing in 2024 as an independent candidate, he joined Ajit Pawar's NCP in 2025, strengthening his political foothold.
