On Saturday, repolling commenced in 15 booths across two assembly constituencies in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. The Election Commission mandated these repolls following reports of electoral malpractices, ensuring a transparent voting process.
The repolls took place in 11 polling stations at Magrahat Paschim and four in Diamond Harbour. The exercise began at 7 am, with officials confirming peaceful conduct in the initial hours. Central forces and live webcasting were employed to maintain order and transparency.
The political scene in these constituencies is competitive, featuring TMC's Md Samim Ahamed Molla and Panna Lal Halder against their BJP rivals. The outcomes of these elections, following phases on April 23 and 29, are eagerly awaited, with results expected on May 4.
