AAP MLA Mehraj Malik launched a stinging critique against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, questioning the authority and efficacy of the government following Malik's detention under the Public Safety Act, which the High Court later overturned.

Malik, released on Tuesday, indicated that the inability of the chief minister to intervene in his arrest casts doubt on the administration's competence in securing the future of the region. He raised alarms about the increasing jail population, particularly among young people and those involved in drug-related cases, while urging the government to actively represent the public's interests.

Highlighting his dissatisfaction, Malik suggested drastic steps for Abdullah, including resignation or open rebellion against the central government if governance continued to falter, drawing parallels with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's past protest strategies. Meanwhile, Malik accused opposition parties like NC and PDP of failing to support him, despite his incarceration stemming from genuine public issues rather than serious offenses.
