Sunetra Pawar, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader, is set to secure a sweeping victory in the Baramati assembly bypoll. Riding on a significant sympathy wave, the bypoll was prompted by the tragic passing of her husband, Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash earlier this year.
In parallel, the Rahuri assembly byelection sees a strong showing from the BJP's Akshay Kardile, who holds a commanding lead over NCP (SP) candidate Govind Mokate. The seat became vacant following the death of Akshay's father, Shivaji Kardile, the previous MLA.
The Maharashtra assembly comprises 288 seats, with the dominant Mahayuti alliance maintaining a robust majority of 235 seats, led by the BJP, Shiv Sena, and allied parties. The opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi, controls 50 seats, ensuring a dynamic political landscape.
