Congress Clinches Bypoll Victories in Karnataka
Samarth Mallikarjun, Congress candidate and grandson of late MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa, won the Davanagere South assembly by-election by 5,708 votes. In Bagalkot, Congress's Umesh Meti defeated BJP's Veerabhadrayya Charantimath by 22,332 votes. The bypolls followed the deaths of two senior Congress MLAs, prompting these electoral contests.

In a significant victory for the ruling Congress party, candidate Samarth Mallikarjun has secured a win in the Davanagere South assembly by-election, overtaking the initial lead of BJP's Srinivasa T Dasakariyappa. Mallikarjun claimed the seat with a margin of 5,708 votes, following an intensely watched contest.
Similarly, in Bagalkot, Congress candidate Umesh Meti achieved a decisive victory against BJP's seasoned politician, Veerabhadrayya Charantimath. Meti's win by a margin of 22,332 votes underscored the shifting political dynamics in the region.
The bypolls became necessary after the demise of Congress veterans H Y Meti and Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Samarth Mallikarjun, Shivashankarappa's grandson, carried forward his legacy by clinching victory in a closely contested election.
