In a dramatic political upset in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin faced defeat in the Kolathur Assembly constituency to VS Babu of the TVK, by a margin of 8,795 votes. This result was confirmed by the Election Commission's latest figures.

VS Babu secured 82,997 votes, while Stalin garnered 74,202, confirming a significant victory attributed to TVK chief and popular personality, 'Thanga Thalapathi' Vijay, who is perceived as the driving force behind the party's success.
