Following a resounding victory in the Keralam assembly elections, Congress party stalwarts KC Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala visited Sonia Gandhi to discuss the appointment of the state's next Chief Minister. Both are potential candidates, contending alongside Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan for the top position in this crucial decision-making period.
Ramesh Chennithala remarked that while the Congress in Keralam is basking in a triumphant win, the decision on the Chief Minister will be taken by the high command, underscoring the party's united stance. Congress has already begun government formation, with the United Democratic Front securing 102 out of 140 seats in a landmark victory.
Party sources reveal that leaders Ajay Maken and Mukul Wasnik have been appointed as observers to gauge the opinions of newly elected MLAs, aiding the high command's choice. KC Venugopal expressed gratitude to Keralam's voters for their trust in the Congress and its allies, emphasizing the strengthened leadership under Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
