The Haryana Congress has revealed a significant issue in the voter registry for the upcoming Panchkula municipal elections, alleging the discovery of 17,086 duplicate entries belonging to 8,543 voters.
Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala highlighted the findings at a press conference, urging election authorities to swiftly address the discrepancy. Surjewala emphasized the improbability of such an error occurring by chance, suggesting deliberate tampering.
The Congress is demanding an exhaustive investigation and removal of duplicate entries from the electoral roll. The elections, slotted for May 10, will see a key contest between Congress and the ruling BJP.
