The BJP has openly criticized the Congress for its decision to extend support to Vijay's Tamil Viduthalai Kazhagam (TVK) in forming a new government in Tamil Nadu, which marks a departure from its long-standing alliance with the DMK.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed the opposition INDIA bloc is disintegrating, arguing it was formed out of personal ambition rather than a shared ideology. The decision by the Tamil Nadu Congress was made during an emergency meeting of its Political Affairs Committee.
Results from the assembly elections show that Vijay's TVK won 108 seats, necessitating support from ten more MLAs to form a government. Congress's move, seen as a political realignment, has raised questions about the INDIA alliance's unity, especially as the DMK described the move as a betrayal.
