CTR Nirmal Kumar, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), made a strategic move on Thursday by courting CPI and CPI(M) in his quest to form a government in Tamil Nadu. Kumar emphasized the importance of power-sharing to implement party ideologies and policies effectively.

Despite TVK's impressive victory of 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, it falls short of a majority, needing an additional 10 seats. With their leader Vijay having already advocated for shared governance, Kumar is confident that coalition support will enable them to lead the state.

Support from the Congress has given TVK a head start, yet the response from CPI and CPI(M) remains pending. Kumar, emphatically stating no interest in aligning with the NDA, waits for the state governor to extend an invitation to TVK to form the government. With the people’s mandate behind them, Kumar reiterates that TVK's Vijay should assume the chief minister's role.
