UP leaders pay tributes to Maharana Pratap on birth anniversary

Leaders from different political parties paid tributes to Maharana Pratap on his birth anniversary on Saturday and hailed his courage, sacrifice and patriotism. In a Hindi post on X, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Maharana Pratap as the ''immortal son of Mother India'' and a timeless voice of freedom. ''Your indomitable courage and total dedication to protect the pride and self-respect of our motherland will continue to inspire the Indian people to stand firm against injustice and show patriotism for ages to come,'' Adityanath said. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also paid tributes to the Rajput warrior king and said the spirit of Maharana Pratap should inspire a ''new independence and a new oath''. Speaking to reporters at the SP office here, ''The Gomti Riverfront, the most magnificent riverfront in the country today, will be an exemplary work for other states as well. There can be no better model for keeping rivers clean in the future. All our great men and those associated with our movements will be honoured.'' He also said a grand statue of Maharana Pratap, along with his horse Chetak and a golden spear, would be installed. ''Samajwadis (socialists) have never discriminated. They have worked to take everyone along. Uttar Pradesh should develop and move on the path of prosperity,'' he said. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, in a post on X, described Maharana Pratap as a great hero of Indian history who never compromised on the honour and dignity of the motherland even under difficult circumstances. ''His sacrificial, valorous and patriotic life still inspires every Indian to move forward on the path of national service with courage and self-respect. The country will always be indebted to his unparalleled sacrifice and valour,'' Maurya said. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also paid tributes to the Rajput king and described him as a symbol of bravery, valour and indomitable courage. UP Congress chief Ajay Rai, in a post on X, paid homage to Maharana Pratap and termed him a symbol of bravery, self-respect and devotion to the motherland. Maharana Pratap, the 13th king of the Sisodia dynasty of Mewar, was born in Rajasthan on May 9, 1540, and died on January 19, 1597.
