Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a historic visit to Norway on May 18 and 19, as announced by the Norwegian government. This visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 1983, underscoring the strengthening ties between India and the Nordic region.
During the visit, Modi will engage in bilateral discussions with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and meet with King Harald V. The visit coincides with the Nordic-Indian Summit, focusing on key areas such as green transition, digitalisation, and trade. Modi and Støre will participate jointly in the summit, emphasizing international cooperation amidst global instability.
The visit will also feature the Norway-India Business and Research Summit, promoting economic collaboration. A free trade agreement between India, Norway, and EFTA countries, effective since last year, is expected to enhance bilateral trade and investment, reflecting the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
