In a significant move to tackle soaring beef prices, President Donald Trump is poised to sign executive orders aimed at boosting beef imports and reviving the U.S. cattle herd, according to a White House official.
Details of the orders remain scarce. However, they come as the U.S. cattle herd hits its lowest numbers in 75 years, fueling the beef price surge.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump may temporarily lift tariff-rate quotas on beef, facilitating lower-tariff imports. Additionally, the Small Business Administration may be directed to enhance loans for ranchers and reduce protections for wolves under the Endangered Species Act.
