An impressive voter turnout of 97.96% was recorded in the recent by-election held for the Bhojpur-cum-Buxar Local Authorities Constituency of the Bihar legislative council, officials reported.

This high turnout comes as voters filled a vacancy left by Radha Charan Sah, who resigned after winning the Sandesh constituency seat in the 2025 assembly elections. Voting commenced at 8 am and concluded by 4 pm with observers reporting a smooth, incident-free process.

The election sees several contenders, including Kanhaiya Prasad from JD(U) and Sonu Kumar Rai from RJD, with vote counting scheduled to begin at 8 am on May 14 at the Government Girls' Plus Two High School in Ara.
