In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for austerity, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla announced on Thursday his decision to halve his convoy's vehicle count. The Governor revealed plans to encourage Chief Minister and political leaders to follow suit, emphasizing that Modi himself set a precedent by downsizing his motorcade.

Governor Shukla urged political figures across the state to consider reducing their own vehicle numbers, aligning with PM Modi, the Union Home Minister, and the Defence Minister. The aim is to raise public awareness about the austerity initiative and advocate for the adoption of eco-friendly electric vehicles, which he plans to discuss with the Chief Minister.

Beyond transport measures, Shukla is determined to combat substance abuse in Telangana, drawing from his successful anti-drug campaign in Himachal Pradesh. He suggested students make declarations against substance abuse upon college admissions, aligning with the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' for a drug-free India and promoting a similar 'Nasha Mukt Telangana' campaign.
