In a candid discussion, ex-TMC leader Riju Dutta conveyed a pragmatic perspective on West Bengal's political scene, emphasizing a cautious approach as the BJP begins its leadership in Kolkata. Suspended by the TMC for speaking out, Dutta acknowledged the transformation while urging critics to provide the new administration time to prove its capabilities.
Speaking to ANI, Dutta—a staunch advocate for the TMC before his suspension—described BJP's initial phase in Bengal as a "honeymoon period." Cautioning against unrealistic expectations, he dismissed notions reminiscent of fantasy, stating that opposition strategist Suvendu Adhikari cannot simply "wave a magic wand" to achieve reforms instantaneously.
Despite his suspension, Dutta lauded some of the BJP's initial decisions, backing their execution in office and encouraging patience from the public. On electoral matters, he criticized blaming losses on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stressing the importance of respecting Bengal's high voter turnout and the defeat as a reflection of democratic choice.
