In a critical address on Monday, DMK President M K Stalin alleged that the ruling TVK, under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, secured victory in the April 23 Assembly polls through social media manipulation rather than traditional field campaigning. Without directly naming TVK, Stalin insinuated that the ruling party influenced voters, especially family members, via children, bypassing conventional methods of political engagement and scrutiny.
Stalin highlighted the DMK's extensive groundwork and organizational initiatives, such as the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, booth committee formations, and youth and women’s conferences. Despite these efforts, he questioned the DMK's electoral defeat while their competitors apparently shirked conventional practices. He reiterated that rivals have always sought to undermine the DMK but assured supporters of the party’s enduring resilience, pointing to ongoing preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections.
The DMK leader also mentioned activating a committee to evaluate reasons for the election loss across constituencies and launched a website, 'Udanpirappin kural,' to gather opinions from party members and the public. While Stalin expressed no intent to disrupt the new government, he warned of counter-action should political adversaries attempt slander against the DMK.
