Abhishek Banerjee Challenges FIR for Alleged Inflammatory Remarks

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee has petitioned the Calcutta High Court to dismiss an FIR accusing him of inflammatory remarks during the West Bengal assembly elections. Filed by social activist Rajib Sarkar, the FIR claims Banerjee's remarks linked to Union Minister Amit Shah were provocative, endangering public order.

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking the dismissal of an FIR lodged against him. The FIR, registered by the West Bengal Police, alleges that Banerjee made inflammatory remarks during the recent assembly elections.

The complaint was filed by social activist Rajib Sarkar at Baguiati police station in North 24 Parganas district. Sarkar claims that Banerjee's remarks, supposedly linked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, had the potential to incite public disorder and disturb communal harmony.

Senior advocate and TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee stated that the court is expected to hear the petition later this week, with Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya presiding over the matter. The FIR was formally lodged at the Cyber Crime police station under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate on May 15.
