AIADMK Appeals to Speaker: MLAs' Resignations Spark Legal Controversy

AIADMK has petitioned Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker not to accept the resignations of three MLAs who allegedly joined ruling TVK before their stepping down was notified. Citing procedural lapses and ongoing anti-defection law actions, AIADMK leaders push to prevent the resignations from being accepted.

The AIADMK, led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, has called on the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker to dismiss the resignations of three of its MLAs. The party alleges procedural misconduct as the resigning members reportedly joined the ruling TVK before their resignations were officially notified.

The insistence comes amidst unresolved pleas for disqualification of 25 MLAs who defied party orders during a floor test. The party argues that while the anti-defection law action is pending, accepting the resignations contravenes legislative rules.

AIADMK officials accuse the government of horse-trading, despite promises of clean governance by CM C Joseph Vijay. They have urged for intervention, stressing that accepting the resignations undermines legislative rules and invites instability.
