U.S. Conducts Self-Defense Strikes on Iranian Sites
The U.S. carried out 'self-defense strikes' on Iranian radar and drone sites after Iran downed a U.S. drone over international waters. CENTCOM confirmed U.S. forces eliminated Iranian air defenses and drones. This follows a series of reciprocal attacks between the two nations in the region.
On Sunday, the United States announced that it executed 'self-defense strikes' against Iranian radar and drone-control installations located in Goruk and Qeshm Island. These actions were in direct response to Tehran's 'aggressive' maneuvers.
The U.S. Central Command detailed that Iran had downed an American MQ-1 drone operating in international airspace. In retaliation, U.S. fighter jets eliminated Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two attack drones.
Despite the tensions, the U.S. confirmed that no military personnel were harmed. Last week had already seen an exchange of strikes, with Iran targeting a U.S. base following American military attacks on Iranian drone operations near the Strait of Hormuz.
