The Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary, D Raja, launched a blistering critique of the central government, accusing it of mishandling the nation's worsening energy crisis. Raja specifically questioned the rationale behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Israel, suggesting that it did not address the urgent issue of surging energy prices.
In a statement to ANI, Raja asserted that the government, under Mr. Modi, has completely failed to tackle the escalating energy dilemma. "Fuel prices are climbing daily," he noted, linking the situation to the ongoing war crisis. He also challenged the necessity of Modi's Israel visit, implying potential geopolitical implications.
Raja's comments come as commercial LPG cylinder prices have risen sharply, with a 19 kg cylinder in Delhi now costing Rs 3,113.50 following a Rs 42 hike. In Kolkata, the same product is priced at Rs 3,255.50. Despite the energy crisis and rising prices, the Union Petroleum Ministry reassures that petrol, diesel, LPG, and natural gas inventories are sufficient. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar defended the price hikes, attributing them to governmental efforts to prevent hoarding.
