The Indian music fraternity is reeling from the loss of one of its most cherished voices, veteran singer Suman Kalyanpur, who passed away at the age of 89. Her demise prompted an outpouring of emotions, including a heartfelt tribute from Padma Shree awardee Suresh Wadkar, who lamented the significant loss for Indian music.

Speaking to the media, Wadkar reflected on Kalyanpur's vast contribution, noting her ability to captivate generations with songs that will forever remain etched in the hearts of admirers. 'She has sung thousands of songs, which we have grown up listening to. We have learned so much from her,' Wadkar expressed sorrowfully.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined in the remembrance, highlighting the profound impact of Kalyanpur's melodious voice and soulful performances on Indian music and cinema. 'Her songs earned her a special place in the hearts of music lovers,' Modi stated, extending condolences to her family and admirers. Kalyanpur's legacy, spanning a career from 1954 to 1988 and showcasing her linguistic versatility, will be long cherished by the nation.
