BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Monday launched a scathing attack on the INDIA bloc, labeling it as purposeless and plagued by divisions. In a conversation with ANI, Poonawalla pointed to ongoing friction within the alliance, particularly spotlighting Congress's contentious relations with various opposition fronts.

Poonawalla remarked that the alliance exists only in theory, citing the dispute between JMM and Congress over a Rajya Sabha spot, and noted NCP's potential non-participation in a crucial meeting. The meeting, hosted in the national capital, features prominent figures like Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and TMC's Mamata Banerjee.

Congress leader Kharge, in his opening address, criticized the ruling government's economic, social, and foreign policies, while commending the alliance's role in opposing significant legislative bills. The gathering also counted attendance from Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Tamil Nadu's political heavyweight Mamata Banerjee, among others.

Prominent attendees included Jammu and Kashmir's Omara Abdullah and Left Front stalwarts, with Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray joining virtually. However, DMK's absence highlighted the ongoing discord with Congress in Tamil Nadu.
