Kharge, in his post on X, highlighted Das's contributions as a lawyer, poet, and champion of communal harmony and national unity.

Kharge emphasized Das's vigorous fight against British rule, noting his significant role in the Non-Cooperation Movement and his mentorship of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Known as 'Deshbandhu,' or 'Friend of the Nation,' Chittaranjan Das (1870-1925) left a profound mark on India's struggle for independence. Born into an influential family in Calcutta, Das was instrumental in founding the Swaraj Party and enhancing Calcutta's civic life as its mayor.
