Kharge, in his post on X, highlighted Das's contributions as a lawyer, poet, and champion of communal harmony and national unity.

Kharge emphasized Das's vigorous fight against British rule, noting his significant role in the Non-Cooperation Movement and his mentorship of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He praised Das's dedication to social cohesion, national education, and Hindu-Muslim unity as values that have transcended generations.

Known as 'Deshbandhu,' or 'Friend of the Nation,' Chittaranjan Das (1870-1925) left a profound mark on India's struggle for independence. Born into an influential family in Calcutta, Das was instrumental in founding the Swaraj Party and enhancing Calcutta's civic life as its mayor. His initiatives in social reform and education, along with his literary pursuits, solidified his status as a key figure in India's nationalist movement.
