Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Tuesday said that the AAP government would not implement the Ayushman Bharat Health scheme in the city-state. "Delhi has a population of around two crore. The scheme (Ayushman Bharat) will only take care of 10 lakh poor people. We don't want this. Delhi government will not indulge in pick and choose policy. It's our responsibility to give free treatment to all -- poor or rich," said Jain.

Jain was responding to the statement of Union Health Minister Harshvardhan where he had said that he would ask Delhi government to reconsider its stand on the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Health scheme. Alleging that the Central government has only implemented the scheme on paper, Jain said: "Why do THE people from states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana come to Delhi hospitals for treatment? Everything is on paper. Implement the scheme in Haryana and UP. We will take care of Delhi."
