Heavy Rains Cause Havoc in Thane District with Multiple Incidents

Heavy rains lashed parts of Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday, with the city recording 48.77 mm showers until 3:30 PM, according to an official statement.
Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell of the TMC, reported that Thane city has recorded 141.9 mm of rain since June 1. The disaster cell received 23 complaints about rain-related incidents, including water-logging and tree falls.
The Thane Municipal Corporation issued immediate notices to a hoarding contractor and landowner for the removal of a precarious hoarding on the Eastern Express Highway. The civic body acted on a complaint received in the afternoon, noting the hoarding was dangerously dangling near a housing complex.
In another incident, a 40-foot iron arch designed to prevent heavy vehicles from entering a service road collapsed amid gusty winds in Airoli, Navi Mumbai. Although no injuries were reported, the incident affected traffic on Thane-Belapur Road for a few hours. Heavy machinery was deployed to remove the iron arch.
