A Russian missile strike on Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region on Wednesday resulted in the death of one person and injuries to eight others, according to the regional governor.

Vitaliy Kim reported on Telegram that a civilian facility was targeted in the town of Voznesensk, with a local mayor among the injured.

The Ukrainian air force had announced an air raid alert for the southern regions due to heightened Russian aviation activity prior to the strike.
