Dayal Das, a 49-year-old Pakistani Hindu, is overcome with emotion as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) issues a public notice about a forthcoming demolition in Majnu Ka Tila, his home for the past nine years.

Earlier this year in May, Das was celebrating the Indian citizenship granted to his three children under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). However, the prospect of losing their tin-shed house with basic amenities fills his family with despair.

Das and many other Pakistani Hindu families are facing the threat of displacement this Saturday and Sunday due to the DDA's decision to demolish encroachments in the Yamuna floodplain, south of the Majnu Ka Tila gurdwara.
