Heavy rains triggered a catastrophic landslide in Lavasa city, Pune district, claiming the life of Shivaji Bahirat and trapping two caretakers. Rescue operations by the National Disaster Response Force are underway.
Lavasa recorded 453 mm of rainfall within 24 hours, leading to a landslide that buried three bungalows in Dasve village during the early hours of Thursday.
In a separate incident, a person died and another was injured when debris from a landslide hit a roadside eatery in Tamhini Ghat. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
