After seven hours of intensive rescue efforts, three civil services aspirants tragically lost their lives at a flooded coaching center in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Students, angered by the incident, staged protests and raised slogans against authorities outside the center where the deaths occurred. Preliminary investigations indicated that a library housed in the basement was where the students were trapped.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) M Harsha Vardhan said that the NDRF's seven-hour-long search operation concluded with the recovery of three bodies. CCTV footage is being reviewed to understand the sequence of events leading to the flooding.

The victims, two female and one male student, were recovered by the NDRF, local police, and the fire department. Police have not yet released the names of the deceased.

According to the Delhi Fire Department (DFS), a call about waterlogging was received from Rau's IAS Study Circle. Officers had to deal with fast-rising floodwaters in the basement, which complicated rescue efforts with floating furniture obstructing their work.

Revenue Minister Atishi has mandated Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to conduct an inquiry and report findings within 24 hours. She assured that those responsible would face consequences.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj blamed the AAP administration for the incident, accusing it of ignoring repeated local pleas to clean the drains, thereby attributing responsibility to the government for this tragic mishap.
