A large fire broke out in Rome on Wednesday near the Italian capital's court of justice and a public TV broadcasting center. Firefighters reported that several buildings were evacuated, including RAI's broadcasting center and a nearby space observatory.
Adriano De Acutis, head of Rome's firefighters, stated that significant work remained to control the blaze. Due to the fire, RAI was forced to cancel an afternoon live show, with presenter Nunzia De Girolamo announcing the evacuation on Instagram.
The regional civil protection office had earlier warned of high wildfire risks due to extreme temperatures above 35°C. Climate change has made such wildfires more common, with recent reports indicating increasing occurrences across the Mediterranean.
