In the aftermath of a catastrophic landslide that ravaged the Mundakkai region of Wayanad district, Unnikrishnan, the headmaster of Vellarimala school, visited the devastated site. Deeply affected by the sight of the once-glorious school now reduced to rubble, Unni 'mash' collapsed, unable to bear the grief.
Speaking to reporters, he lamented, ''We taught these kids to respect nature, but ultimately, nature took them away.'' With an 18-year tenure at the school, Unni Mash reminisced about their early start times and pride in their beautiful surroundings, now tragically altered by the landslide.
Rescue teams, utilizing advanced radars, drones, and heavy machinery, have intensified their search operations as the death toll reaches 219, with 49 children from the region, including students from Vellarimala GVHSS, still missing.
